Anand Fuel Additive HFO Multifunctional additive for Heavy Fuel Oil

Application

Anand Fuel Additive HFO is a high performance Multifunctional fuel additives for Furnace Oil, Carbon black feed stock (CBFS), Light Diesel Oil (LDO), LVFO and Low Sulphur Heavy Stock. This additive improves combustion and storage stability of Fuel Oil.

Description

Anand Fuel Additive HFO is a specially formulated compound in solution in an aromatic solvent which is readily soluble in fuel oil and which acts as a combustion catalyst by increasing the speed of oxidation of unburnt hydrocarbons during the process of heavy fuel oil combustion. Combustion Improver Catalyst cum stability additive is a flexible way to optimize the use of heavy fuel oils.

How it works?

Heavy fuel oil is a fuel made from residues of atmospheric and vacuum distillation of crude oil Furnace oil – which is made by visbreaking technology as well- is composed of three chemical compounds: oil, resin and asphaltenes. Asphaltenes are big molecules which do not burn as easily as oil. In the flame zone, the oil portion is completely burnt. But due to its complex structure, the asphaltene portion is partially burnt, leading to loss of fuel, emitting hydrocarbons, soot and particulate matter.

Asphaltene + O2 C + CO + CO2 + H2O

Because of partial combustion of asphaltenes, carbon deposits are formed in the burner nozzle, furnace, heat transfer surfaces, chimney, etc. this affects the trouble-free running of the boiler, heat transfer and consequently leads to loss of fuel.

Another problem encountered by fuel oil users is incompatibility of furnace oil, which lead to sludge formation, settling, pipeline choking, centrifuge separator overloading, etc. Sludge is coagulated asphaltenes with entrapped water molecules, which settles down.

Both the problems- incomplete combustion and sludge formation – are solved by using Anand Fuel Additive HFO, a heavy fuel oil multi- functional additive for furnace oil, Carbon Black Feed Stock [CBFS], LDO and Low Sulphur Heavy Stock [LSHS]. This additive improves combustion and storage stability of fuel oil.

Functions of Anand Fuel Additive HFO

Anand Fuel Additive HFO is a blend of performance improvers which:

  • Disintegrates the existing sludge into fine asphaltene molecules.
  • Avoids formation of sludge and keeps the asphaltenes in well dispersed state. This increases the oil’s exposure area when it is atomized and burnt.
  • The catalyst in the additive acts on asphaltenes and catalyses the following combustion reaction.

Asphaltene + H2O CD + H2 + Energy. Once Carbon Monoxide is formed, the next reaction occurs easily. 2CO + O2 2CO2 + Energy Thus, Anand Fuel Additive HFO breaks down the asphltenes into smaller molecules, helps them burn by catalyzing the though step of Carbon Monoxide formation, thus improving the heavy fuel oil to burn better, release more heat and as a result, saves fuel.

Benefits of Using Anand Fuel Additive HFO: Chemical:

Increases speed of combustion of oil.

Accelerates combustion of unburnt hydrocarbons

Mechanical:

Reduces excess air requirement and reduce heat loss through flue gases

Reduces heat loss through heat transfer surface & enchance heat transfer efficiency

Improves spray pattern, flame homogeneity and flow property

Avoids sludge formation, and prevent clogging of pipes, filters, nozzles as well saturation of separators.

Disperses and suspends any sediment already present in storage tank and protects oil circuit from corrosion induced by water.

Reduces the frequency of mechanical maintenance and improves the life of equipment.

Economic Benefits:

Effects 4% fuel savings, and enhance life of equipment

Sludge converts into good oil. Saves time, effort and labour by avoiding tank cleaning

Environmental Benefits:

Reduces smoke, soot and particulate matter in flue gas

Reduces NOx by at least 30%; avoids sludge formation and hence sludge handling difficulties.

Reduces the unburnt solids by at least 50%

Decreases emission of Black smoke & Co. Gas

Satisfies environmental considerations

Anand Fuel Additive - CFA

Combustion Improver for Coal Burning Unit

Application

Anand Fuel additives CFA is a coal additive suitable for boilers, furnaces, thermic fluid heaters, kilns, etc., using pulverized / powdered coal as fuel. It has two components – combustion improver and corrosion inhibitor. The combustion improvement (fuel savings) performance of Anand Fuel additives CFA can be measured within a few days, whereas reduced corrosion can be seen over a long period of use. Being a solid fuel, coal does not get burnt completely during its residence time in the fire box. A certain portion of carbon in the coal goes away along with bottom ash and fly ash. This carbon, which otherwise goes waste in ash, is combusted by Anand Fuel Additive CFA.

The improvement in combustion, which in turn gives fuel savings, can be measured by two ways.

Steam to Fuel Ratio (SFR) Method: In this method, steam output and coal input are measured. By additive action, combustion improves and coal consumption reduces. The ratio of steam produced per kg of coal (SFR) rises, through which fuel is saved .

Loss on Ignition (LOI) Method: In this method, loss on ignition (i.e., combustibles) in the ash is tested before and after adding additive with coal.

Description

Anand Fuel Additive CFA is a powder chemical additive designed especially for coal-fired units to reduce unburnt carbon in both fly ash / bottom ash and reduce soot emission, while maintaining the boiler in good condition.

Functions of Anand Fuel Additive CFA The active element present in the additive acts as an oxidation catalyst to reduce the ignition temperature of carbon, helping it burn at a lower temperature than its inherent ignition temperature.

The alkaline earth metals present in the additive neutralize the acidic and low melting deposits. They change the chemical composition of salts formed. In the absence of the additive, 2Na3Fe (SO4)3 gets formed, which is a low melting compound and fouls the convection zone.

In the presence of the additive, MgSO4Fe2(SO4)3 gets formed, which does not melt at the boiler temperature and avoids fouling.

Advantage

Regular application of Anand Fuel Additive CFA

Reduces unburnt carbon in fly ash and bottom ash.

Helps to recover heat by enhancing fuel combustion.

Reduces back-end corrosion (alkaline earth compounds neutralise acidic deposits, lower carbon content of fly ash reduces absorption).

Maintains overall clean surfaces in the boiler.

Reduces fouling of convection sections.

Minimises ash disposal problems.

Directions for Use

Anand Fuel Additive CFA should be continuously added to the coal on an average basis of 0.4 kg per ton of coal. Specific dosage rates will depend on the severity of the problems encountered. Good results are observed even at 200 ppm dosages. Anand Fuel Additive CFA is mixed with coal ahead of the pulverizer.
